John Scalpen, MSc (PT) Registered Physiotherapist

Born and raised in St. John’s, and after a previous career as a Geophysicist, John decided to change careers, entering the Dalhousie University Masters of Science in Physiotherapy program in the fall of 2010. After graduation from the MScPT program John’s early career has been spent in Calgary, Alberta affording him the opportunity to access substantial continuing education, leading to formal training in Movement Impairment Syndromes, upper and lower extremity advanced course work and Spinal Manipulation. However, John is most highly trained in and passionate about The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), having recently completed a 2-month advanced residency in Austin, Texas while working toward a Diploma in MDT. John has also been an assistant instructor on many MDT courses sharing his skills and passion for this method of treating spine and extremity conditions with other Physiotherapists and Chiropractors in both Canada and the United States.

His focus is on sustainable recovery and prevention of re-injury, helping clients to not only get pain free, but to stay pain free. John has a strong belief in taking the time to truly listen to clients concerns in order to provide an individualized and successful treatment plan.
